Carpark Naming Competition, The Ed Cameron Carpark
The below is correspondence from PACCAR.
Thank you to all who submitted a suggestion, we received an astounding 123 responses. It was a tough decision, with so many great suggestions from our employees.
I am pleased to announce the winning name, The Ed Cameron Carpark.
Congratulations to Michael Maruca from PACCAR Financial for the suggestion, a fantastic way to pay tribute to the man who played an instrumental role introducing Kenworth to Australia in the 1960’s. Back then, Ed Cameron recognised a need for more suitable product for the Australian market and after hearing of custom-built Kenworths to suit specialised trucking needs in the US, he was convinced these would fit the bill. In 1962, after numerous phone calls and visits to the US, along with changes to Australia’s import rules, Ed’s hard work paid off and Kenworth officially arrived in Australia. A great story to celebrate our rich history and PACCAR pedigree!
Congratulations also to Chris Bombinski, coming 2nd with her suggestion ‘Wurundjeri Gardens’. And congratulations Ron Dixon on 3rd place with ‘Wurundjeri’.
The new carpark signage with “Ed Cameron Car Park” will be erected in the next few weeks.
Thanks and regards,
Andrew Hadjikakou.
